About my teaching
I currently teach at Honeywell Junior School, Greenwich Music School and privately, teaching all ages including secondary school age and adults from beginner to diploma level. I prepare students for grade examinations, concerts, music festivals, concertos and competitions, inspiring and challenging them in a friendly, innovative and positive environment whilst developing their love for music. As well as technical proficiency, I aim to nurture well-rounded confident musicians in a flexible and pro-active approach, incorporating a balanced curriculum centred around each student’s learning style, needs, interests and aspirations. I value high achievement in all areas and have had many students pass grade examinations with excellent results, as well as several winning prizes in competitions. Growing a warm, honest and supportive relationship with students and parents is of utmost importance to me. Being aware of the demands of teaching high achieving students, I also regularly communicate with students and parents to ensure we are working in a way that will enable them to succeed to their fullest potential whilst caring for their wellbeing. I also introduce the practice of mindfulness techniques into my lessons as a practice and performance tool.
In addition to teaching, I am a Furthering Talent Mentor with Awards for Young Musicians, where I guide and advise talented young musicians. I was also recently invited to adjudicate the Bristol Grammar School Piano Festival, where I held a masterclass for category prize winners and performed at the Winner’s concert.
